His practice focuses on all aspects of patent matters such as the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications, patent appeals and the preparation of patent and trademark licenses. Horst Schäfer has extensive litigation experience in patent law with special emphasis on patent litigation and opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office involving advanced technology in the fields of semiconductors, alloys, electronics and telecommunications. Horst Schäfer has handled numerous opposition cases before the European Patent Office. He is a German native speaker and is fluent in English. He has special technical expertise in semiconductors, alloys, analog circuitry, electro-optical devices, computer peripherals and telecommunications. He also has wide experience in varied IP related fields, such as, IP due diligence for target companies and advising on IP issues for Merger & Acquisition transactions. Prior to joining the firm, Horst Schäfer was a Senior IP in-house-counsel for Infineon Technologies AG, Munich.
